My brain has been working overtime, pondering so many things – friendship, transition, relationships, change, forgiveness. I was feeling ready and eager to write about these things last night, then as soon as I sat down with my laptop my mind went blank. I wrote anyway, not caring whether it was good or bad. When approaching a creative activity, there are some times when you just need to dive in and do it even if something doesn’t feel right or you don’t feel inspired. I suppose that is true in many areas of life.
I was talking to my friend Pixie on the phone this morning and out of the blue I saw a topless woman on a nearby balcony. I relayed this information to Pixie and commented on the diversity of sights in our neighborhood – on one backyard patio there is a street light, in another a pirate flag. Down the street I always pass by a house with a Jack Russell Terrier snoozing on the deck. When I walk to the beach in the mornings I pass by people walking their dogs, skateboarding, riding a bike with a cup of coffee and returning from the beach in a wetsuit with a surfboard.
Topless women, pirate flags, surfers…life in Venice is never boring.
