:)
i love the serendipity of my blog wanderings today... i found loobylu.com talking about the artist's way and her wacom tablet {both new and wonderful things in my life}... and i find you talking about long way round and that time article on bill gates. i loved both of these as well. the bill gates article was riveting. i like what you said about microsoft earning that much money and doing something with it.
there's something really exuberant about long way round. i dig their cheeky smiles, even when covered with dust and creased with weariness.
blessings to you for sharing your journey,
leonie

Melinda Gates was once quite rude to my boyfriend when he waited on her at the golf course on St. Thomas...he said Bill, on the other hand, seemed quite nice and down-to-earth. It is BILL's money, after all--and he does do an enormous amount of good with it...so to hell with Melinda! ;)
I have loved witnessing the changes in your blog this year--I'm so thrilled that you post so frequently now. (I know, I've said it before...but really, thrilled.) :) Here's to a FABULOUS 2006 for you. I have no doubt you'll continue to expand being the inspirational and creative artist you already are. Happy New Year, Swirly! (Picture me leaping from a chair, holding a sparkler in each hand while saying it.) xoxo

This is the one week of winter that I really, really like ... the week between Christmas and New Year's. It always feels like I am automatically shifting modes, organizing/winnowing, and building up energy to burst into the new year.
I need to hunt down the Long Way Round DVDs. Sounds like a great documentary. Thanks and Happy New Year, Swirly!

While I'm not a Microsoft or Bill Gates fan either, I have always thought that the charity work that He and his wife Melinda do is quite commendable. Steve Jobs is the man, I love the speech that he gives college graduates. It is inspiring.
I can definitely relate to waiting for the New year, so that I can tap into a new creative energy. At this current time, I feel like I'm recharging.
