500 Creations :: Friday Update

January 27, 2006

Journal_collage

"The challenge is to savor all the delicious unknowns and delight in the taste of possibility." Mary Anne Hershey

I am wishing I had the time and energy to photograph or scan all of the creations on my list, but 52 Figments has taken over my scanner.  Although the majority of this week was not especially productive on the creative side, I was finally able to dive into my journal and do some mad collaging today.  The journal collage entries from 28-39 were all done last week, and 40-48 were done today.  I would hardly call today’s collages masterpieces, but the simple act of glueing images onto a page, slapping paint on them and writing quotes from the songs I was listening to was absolutely joyous after my week of hibernation.

    isn’t it amazing how the act of collaging can make you feel incredible? love that.

    hey girlie…you are making some major progress. hell you may not think it is much, especially after a week of headaches. but boy oh boy, i am impressed!

    Hi Christine! Wow, what an amazing start to the year, creatively. And I’m loving the figments so much, looking at them and doing them, but if they keep on how they are they’re going to take over your life as well as your scanner! What a response you’re getting. We’re going to need to hire you a scanning assistant!

  4. What a gorgeous image you made (again).
    Love the delicate child and the butterfly. Mostly what i love about the butterfly is the angle of the wings rather than being flat it jumps out of the page! Great.
    Could you mail me quickly to let me know what sort of paints you use? I’m not getting the right effects with mine.
    Thanks Swirly Muse!

    i really dig your idea of putting in the time and hours to your creativity.

    is: Put the hours in.
    Blessings to you

    swirlacious,
    was just reading julia cameron’s “letters to a young artist” (which, by the way, is wonderous)… and she echoes your same philosophy of putting the hours in, setting your goal of 500 creations, just DOING IT, getting it out there…
    and i felt excited reading her words, being reminded of your own dedication to time in the studio. :)
    thank you for sharing your artist’s journey…
    blessings to you ~
