Leaving On A Jet Plane
March 23, 2006
The shoes I wore at Burning Man in 2003, still covered in Playa dust.
I am writing this ahead of time, and scheduling it to be posted at the exact time of my departure to Miami, where I will relax for just over 24 hours before I get on another plane bound for the Biennial Art Festival in Havana. This is one of my wildest dreams come true, and I can't wait to share my experiences when I return. If it is at all possible for me to write from Havana I will, but in the meantime I have more posts scheduled while I am gone.
"In Cuba music is anything but that. It's not a luxury or commercial entertainment but something essential, like eating, breathing and sleeping. It is an integral part of living, and that for me was extraordinary and very moving because I've never lived in a place where this was the case."
~Wim Wenders

;> have fun!
i am SOOO excited for you!!! dance, sister, dance for us all, and for the unbroken spirit of cuba…
How exciting that you are going to Cuba, would love to hide in a suitcase. I love Cuban music and culture and hope someday to go myself.
have a wonderful trip! I know you will suck it all in for all of us and dance up a storm on the beaches.
big big love to you,
k.
oh i know this will just be a once in a lifetime experience. i can’t wait to hear all about it!!
Mmmmm…sounds dreamy!
Looking forward to hearing of your beautiful adventures.
And yes…DANCE for us all. xoxoxo
Sounds sooooo awesome! Have loads of fun!!!
Have a fabulous trip! Can’t wait to read all about it. A S.F. musician friend went years ago with a group of musicians and said it was AMAZING. When we lived in the islands, a local radio personality (a psychologist who had a talk radio show) went to Cuba with her husband and did her shows from there for a week…very interesting to hear about simple realities of people’s day-to-day lives there.
With shoes like that, how can you help but have fun!
