Gratitude

Wonderwoman
My girl as Wonder Woman, featured in The Girly Show.

It has taken me a while to come up for air since The Girly Show, to recover from all the energy spent organizing, creating and coordinating and then to recover from the immediate meltdown that occurred after the show ended.  Now that things have settled down a bit – although the truth is that life just got crazier than I ever thought it would be right now, but that’s a story for another day – I want to take the time to say thank you a million times over to everyone who made the show such an extraordinary success.  I think I understand a little bit what those Oscar winners felt like recently, overwhelmed with gratitude and bursting with joy, wanting to make sure everyone who deserved acknowledgement received it.  So here it goes…

To the lovely artists – Marisa, Penelope, Kelly, Outi and Mati – it was such an incredible pleasure to hang my work alongside yours and also spend so much time talking about life, art and everything in between.  I wish we all lived on the same street, so we could share our coffee & tea every morning and start the day filled with inspiration.  Alas, I’ll have to keep doing it through your blogs…

To the fellas who support us all – Sean, Colin, John, Eric, Hugh and my dearest L – thank you for cheering us on and making us all feel like Homecoming Queens all weekend long.

To dear, sweet Denise – Miss Boho Photographer – who emailed me the day before the show saying she wanted to come be our photographer.  It wasn’t until the night of the show that I learned she did not live in LA but San Diego, and drove up and back in one day just for us.  Having you clicking away throughout the evening was so much fun; your energy was positive and beautiful and I am so thrilled I finally got to meet you in person!

To Ann Howley – a travel photographer extraordinaire – for being the go to gal for finances and keeping track of the more than $7600 in sales we made that night.

To Linda at Peach Tree Pottery – I’m at a bit of a loss for words to describe how much this woman supports and inspires me, always encouraging me to be more generous, to be softer, yet also be accountable and responsible, because quite frankly, this woman deserves nothing less than my very best efforts.  Thank you for getting me started on this path, Linda.

To Robyne & Xiomara – the hotties at Footcandy – for helping us promote our show and coming by for the festivities – I hope you are enjoying Audrey & Carmen and I can’t wait for our upcoming show!

To Jody Jackman and her fabulous wine hostessing skills.

To the design afficianados at Design Sponge, Decor8 and Poppy Talk and to anyone and everyone else who mentioned our show on their blogs and websites – thank you for supporting us!!

To Deja Design Gallery for providing such a beautiful space.

To Melissa, Christine & Rama, for hanging out with us all weekend and bringing your special creative energy to the entire experience.

To my dear Pixie – thank you for being there.  On this night and in so many other ways.

And last, but most certainly not least, to my dearest of dears Melissa.  For getting on a plane in Raleigh, NC and flying across country for the sole purpose of supporting me on this very special weekend.  I emailed you this quote recently, and will share it here as well:  "Praise the bridge that carried you over."  You have been the bridge in so many situations, some traumatic, some terrifying and many incredibly joyful.  The fact that you were part of this creative circle from start to finish was the highlight of the entire experience.  Talk about feeling like a super insane rock star – here I was at my show, with you, who traveled many miles and endured jet lag.  Why?  Because you are my friend.

Because.  You.  Are.  My.  Friend.

Thank you, thank you…and a million more thank yous.
