Back To A Place I Love
September 20, 2007
Taken on a Tokyo subway, June 2006.
At this exact moment I am on a plane headed to Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan. My dear friend Heidi – who has been just about everywhere, including Egypt, Tonga and Turkey, has always wanted to go but never managed to make her way there during any of her world travels. We decided to go many months ago, and then this summer we inspired my friend Gloria to throw caution to the wind and come with us.
I have been to Tokyo twice before and am looking forward to sharing some of my favorite parts of the city with two amazing women. After a few days in Tokyo we will visit Nikko, Hakone and Kyoto all within the space of ten days, which is actually eight after time lost traveling back and forth from the states. This trip wraps up a busy travel period for me, and as much as I am a vagabond I am also looking forward to my return at the end of the month when I have a pretty clear calendar in front of me until 2008. I have more posts scheduled while I am gone, and I’ll be back to share my adventures in October.
"The world is a book, and those who do not travel, read only a page." -St. Augustine

I can’t wait to hear about all of the exciting things you saw and did in Tokyo. Hopefully I can go with you one of these days. xoxo
damn it…..i am a one page girl! i need to travel! okay – through your travels maybe i am up to page two or three.
enjoy all!
You are so clever – posts scheduled while you are gone? Clever monkey indeed.
Last night I added the travel map to my Facebook page (did I mention I’m a little bit hooked on Facebook – it’s a susbtitute social life for the girl who lives in Ghor) and started clicking away adding places I’ve been. I didn’t add everything, it was getting late. But before I shut my computer I went to my facebook homepage to check for new messages (did I mention I’m a little bit hooked) and saw that I had added 142 cities in 46 countries. I had never counted that many before.
All our journeys teach us, shape us, stretch us – whether the inward or the outward journeys. But the outward ones especially expand our understanding of the world and our place in it, right?
Enjoy Japan and please take me a photo of the most inspiringly daring teen fashion get-up you see. I need to spice up my wardrobe a bit and I love Japanese high street style.
xx
I am so jealous! Japan is just where I want to go. Please share all the details about your trip where you stayed, where you went etc…
