Five Things :: NYC
November 20, 20091. Our Town at the Barrow Street Theater. All I can say is wow.
2. Robert Frank at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Go see Vermeer's The Milkmaid while you're there.
3. Beautiful holiday gifts are to be found at ABC Home.
4. Jonatha introduced me to Via Quadronno on 73rd Street – a cozy Italian cafe less than a block from Central Park.
5. I missed Fuerza Bruta this time around, but I saw their previous performance, De La Guarda, and it was one of my favorite NYC experiences.
6. While I was away, my latest piece in The Wish Studio went up – on my birthday!

I love ABC Home…I could wander in that store for hours.
Ahh, NYC. I miss it. I think we’re going to try to go back. And I loved De La Guarda. Hey. It’s the last name of one of my characters in the novel I’m writing. Funny how these things pop up.
i haven’t thought about our town in a long time. i used a part of that for a speech in speech class a million years ago. . .
“Good-bye Grover’s Corners…. Good-bye to clocks ticking… and Mama’s sunflower. And food and coffee. And new ironed dresses and hot baths… and sleeping and waking up. Oh, earth, you’re too wonderful for anybody to realize you!” Emily’s impassioned speech is a response to her realization that she had not been aware of the wonder of life as she lived it. “I didn’t realize…all that was going on and we never noticed?”
oh de la guarda is so super fab…enjoy enjoy enjoy!
What an amazing combination of fabulous events/places/things! Must have been one great trip!
I saw that production of Our Town too and YES, WOW. I cried my eyes out at the end. How much did you love the narrator? Sounds like you did NYC right!
