Methodical
March 25, 2010I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so methodical in my approach to a new series of work. I usually dive right in and figure out what I’m doing as I go along. But this time, knowing I’m gearing up to work on some ginormous panels (have I mentioned I want to work on a ladder?), I am taking the next few weeks to experiment and play with ideas. My hope is that by the time I am in the studio this summer, this time of trial and error will have rewarded me with some clear ideas about what I want to do on a much larger scale.
Having said that, this is the creative process I’m talking about, and plans don’t usually enter that equation very often. If anything, plans have a way of getting in the way, so I figure I’m already treading on thin ice, which makes it that much more thrilling.
It doesn’t take much to make me feel like a daredevil.

I love your thought process….
and being a daredevil is one of my favorite things to do
Methodical experimentation isn’t exactly a plan, its just a process. When you get to the actual making of the art it will all come together, like it always does! I wish I had the creativity in your little finger.
Great point from Donna that it’s just the process…because when you deep into the creative trance…you never know what will come out of it!
