I second Kate "Loving What Is" is excellent.

I am a mama and bonus mama (don't like the word "step") in the process of blending...it is an ongoing process!

thank you for these resources!

Byron Katie is *amazing*. Check out her website and start watching the videos of the work that she does with people. It's really amazing stuff. Her book, Loving What Is, is just lovely.

My kids are grown but were raised in a blended family. I married my current husban when my kids were teens. In my experience the most important thing is for the step parent be a friend to the kids, don't try to step in and replace the absent Mom or Dad. By friend I dobn't mean put up with unacceptable stuff, but be there for the kid, listen, pay attention, learn from them and hopefully they will learn from you.

I think I learned more from my kids than they learned from me.

Great links and info.

awesome art!

Best, Ellen

Byron Katie = totally amazing. I have seen her in London and known of The Work (and been using it) for about 6 years.

One of my friends is currently in the USA, going to do a stint in Ojai (just up the road from you - right?) in a few weeks.

Can't recommend her enough. Really. It is a way to a more peaceful existence within myself.
