The Great Wall of China

May 16, 2011

After hemming and hawing about what I should write about for my latest contribution to Gypsy Girl’s Guide, I finally sat down to work on it and ended up creating one of my favorite pieces of writing. Head here to read Fate ~ a story from my recent journey to The Great Wall of China.

    Incredible story Christine. Loved it.

I don’t have any quite like that, though I have a distinct memory from when I was about 18 years old, hearing a teacher speaking about his travels through Europe. I dreamed of visiting Greece after hearing his stories and I remember sticking a picture of a greek island on my first vision board. I remembered both of those things as I was sitting on Paros island, sipping a cocktail (with a plastic monkey hanging from it) whilst watching the sun go down a few years ago. Magic.

I also remember the look on the face of one of my ex-boyfriends as he described to me what it was like to see the Northern Lights. I don’t remember what he said, but I remember that look. I think the word ‘wonder’ kinda describes it (though not very well).

I haven’t seen the Northern Lights yet, but I know that one day I’ll see them for myself.

Thanks for sharing such an momentous piece of your life story and for prompting me to remember parts of mine.

Aren’t dreams wonderful things and dreams of travel and life experience are so, so sweet when we are ‘sitting in’ them in reality! I am about to ‘sit in’ another of mine when my husband and I visit the French Open in a couple of weeks……only the US Open to go!!
