A Few Things
June 15, 2011I took this photo by accident in New York City last week. It probably happened when I was putting my phone back into my purse, or maybe in a pocket, and when I discovered it this week I was strangely drawn to it. The colors, the movement, the barest hint of my feet in sandals…it looks as if it might have even been taken underwater.
There are big changes ahead, and new journeys to prepare for, but right now I’m here to share a few things that have been making my heart swoon in the midst of recent travels, a few deadlines, and a day of jury duty.
* I am excited to announce I will be teaching at Teahouse Art Studio with the amazing Maya Stein this October. I hope you’ll join us for PaperStories: Artistic Play + Writing Exploration. All the details are right here.
* Yesterday, while waiting to see if I was going to be sequestered in a courtroom (all of us potential jurors were released – woohoo!) I started reading Paper Garden: An Artist Begins Her Life’s Work at 72, and I already know this is going to be one of my favorite books ever. Inspiring beyond words.
* My new obsession is Pinterest ~ what a fun way to collect images, particularly for specific projects I might be working on.
Happy Wednesday!

Christine – Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for letting us know about Paper Garden! I went right to Amazon, looked it up, watched the video with Molly Peacock, and then promptly burst into tears!! What a gift! I’m 66 years old and keep wondering if I’ll ever find out what it is I’m meant to do with my life. I’m incredibly drawn to artist’s blogs and have tried various things but don’t feel like I have much talent. What I’m drawn to most is beads, photography and collage — almost anything with color. It seems I keep thinking, “I’m too old, why bother?” I know that must sound nuts but it’s the truth. So this book, espcially today when this morning I just bought, with great trepidation, some water color pencils, is exactly what I needed to know. Now I feel like it’s ok to keep trying. I will buy this book today! And I have a feeling it will be by my bedside always! Thank you again! xoxo
Swirly Swirly Swirly! I wish I could attend that class!
The only thing I’m Pinterested in is YOU!
Sending loveskies and huggers to you miss. Big smooch for those blurry sandaled feet that were baptized in the Jordan river and which are always adorned with the hippest and fuzziest socks.
xo
