60 Seconds With Anne Carmack

Anne Carmack ~ Contributor to Desire to Inspire ~ on faith:

I read somewhere once about ethical eschatology, a term coined by scholars to describe God’s demand on us to do something about the evil in the world, and it has stayed with me ever since. I’m really not a religious person but I do believe in the Divine and have always felt pushed to rebel against the ugly things that scare me by making art. When I was in 5th grade my classmate built an altar to the Virgin Mary in her walk in closet and we would kneel down together with our glow in the dark rosaries and pray. These days the only altar in my closet is built in honor of the perfect black t-shirt but in a lot of ways, the spiritual sentiment remains the same. I close my eyes and ask for help or guidance and every single time, in all sorts of different, messy, unexplainable ways I get it. Believing like this keeps me hopeful, keeps me moving, keeps me from going underground to hide.
