I am on a run, and I ask myself: What are you chasing?
Because that's how I've felt for a very long time - like I am chasing after something that is always just out of my reach. The space in front of me opens up, only to have a fresh new list of Very Important Tasks take over my line of sight like a stray piece of paper that lands with a smack against a windshield on a windy day.
So what is it? What is it that I keep pursuing day after day after day?
It is a clean house that feels beautiful and inviting. It is all the phone calls to all the friends I feel like I haven't talked to in ages. It is that moment when all the dishes are done, the leftovers put away, the dog walked, when I can crawl into bed early and read. It is the ability to sit still for just ten minutes watching the hummingbirds do their work. I want to follow the example of all our neighborhood birds, the way they sit at our fountain taking sips of water as if they have all the time in the world.
There is a story that has been quietly unfolding all year long. I can't wait to share it with you.
